Increase energy with BladeFlex – it’s easy!
Did you know that bad posture can be a contributing factor to fatigue? If you spend the majority of your day at a desk or in a seated position, you may be limiting your body’s energy supply. Thankfully, there’s a few easy changes you can make to increase energy.
When your head is consistently in a forward and/or downward-facing position, your shoulders roll forward, causing your chest cavity to tighten. Every inch that you head moves forward, the weight of your head and tension on your neck and back muscles tighten.
The reduction of space in your chest cavity leads to decreased lung capacity and oxygen intake. Then, when your neck, back and head muscles are forced to work overtime with not enough supplied oxygen, lactic acid can build up, leading to increased pain, stiffness and headaches.
All combined, the decreased oxygen intake and increased muscle workload can leave you feeling like you ran a marathon when in reality, you just spend eight hours at your desk.
Here are a few ways to improve your posture and in turn, your energy:
Limit the amount of time spent looking at your phone or tablet.
We tend to look downward when using these devices and over extended periods of time, this can lead to poor posture, pain and fatigue. Set a limit for your screen time and then ensure you take a moment to get up and walk around – even if it’s just within your office.
Focus on your breathing to increase energy.
When we roll our shoulders forward and limit our chest cavity space, we tend to take shorter, shallower breaths. When you intentionally take deep, slow breaths, you’ll feel yourself instantly begin to sit taller and keep your spine straighter. Increase energy without even getting out of your chair.
